The Hardcore Files #36 (Raven vs. Big Show vs. Kane)

Welcome back to the thirty sixth edition of The Hardcore Files. On this edition, we have my favorite Hardcore Championship match ever as Raven defends his Hardcore Title against Big Show & Kane at WrestleMania 17. So, without anymore time being wasted; let’s get into it.

Date: April 1, 2001

Where: WrestleMania X-Seven

Watch: WWE Network

(Hardcore Championship) Raven vs. Big Show vs. Kane

Raven who entered the ring first immediately went after the second entree, Kane right away. The bell rang without Big Show making an entrance, but he did about a minute later.

Being the first WrestleMania I ever saw, I instantly fell in love with this match. Back in 2001, my little mind never ever saw something like this. Three men, brawling through the crowd and to the backstage area minutes after Big Show made his entrance. Raven was being a rag doll/crash dummy of sorts as he was being mauled by Big Show. Raven was tossed into walls, slammed into wooden palates, and even thrown through a glass window by Kane. With Raven momentarily out of the picture, Big Show and Kane beat the living hell out each other. They busted through a door, fell through a wall, and eventually chased each other down in golf carts when Raven got himself involved again.

All three men caused absolute chaos in the backstage area and it was a damn fun sight to see. Still to this day, I’m still in love with this match. So much action that keeps you entertained the whole time. There is never a dull moment in this match, especially when they fought back out onto the stage. Kane, Big Show, & a bloody Raven fought close to the end of the stage, which kept you on the edge of you seat; because you knew someone was bound to get thrown off. Moments later, Big Show had Raven high above his head, ready to throw Raven off the stage. But, it would be Kane who would seize the opportunity as he kicked Big Show off the stage, sending Show and Raven crashing through stage equipment.

Soon after, Kane launched himself off the stage, landing a WrestleMania sized leg drop on Big Show, picking up the win and becoming the new Hardcore Champion!

What a match. This is one of the most fun matches I’ve ever seen in my life. So much excitement and entertainment that’ll keep you on your feet the entire time. I’m so glad that I had the chance to look back on this match for this series, and I’m so excited for much more of The Hardcore Files.
