In this week’s column, news from Empire, AWE, three big title changes, $10 Dollar Rasslin and more

The White Rose Kicks Dan Wilson out of Empire Wrestling … Literally

At the Empire Wrestling card on 2/20, Dan Wilson announced that he was stepping down as matchmaker and that the recently returned Andrew Alexander would resume his duties in that position. Alexander returned to Empire 2 weeks prior, costing White Rose member Ryan Vega victory in a ladder match for the Cruiserweight title. Vega came out and demanded a match with Alexander, but his request was refused. Later in the card, Vega and White Rose members KT & Keith Hamill drug Wilson out to the ring and said if Alexander didn’t agree to a match with Vega, they would destroy Wilson. It seemed like Alexander was going to acquiesce, but then Wilson told him not to give in to their demands and flipped the double bird to The White Rose as they triple-kicked him in the head. KT & Keith later competed in a steel cage match against Empire Tag Team champions Livewire Entertainment (Mr. Sports Entertainment & Corey Coxxx). The champs were able to retain in what turned into a very bloody affair (see Mr. Sports Entertainment, pictured above and below).

The Hierarchy Makes Changes to Their … Hierarchy

Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment returned to Atlanta this past weekend and offered some twists and turns in addition to top-notch action. In the main event, Jimmy Rave continued his incredible run of Georgia Wrestling Crown title defenses by defeating AR Fox. But perhaps the biggest news was Kimber Lee joining heel stable The Hierarchy (Rave, Murder One, Chip Day and Iceberg); earlier in the evening they had booted Priscilla Kelly from the group. Kimber returns on 3/6 and teams with Murder & Chip to face Owen Knight, Adrian Armour & Kiera Hogan. Also announced for that card is Ethan Page vs Sugar Dunkerton and Iceberg vs DJ Hyde.

Tyson Dean defeated Brad Attitude in Barnesville GA to win the WrestleMerica Heavyweight title on 2/20. Other notable title changes last weekend saw Nigel Sherrod & Shane Noles beat The Beautiful Bald Besties to win the Peachstate Wrestling Alliance Tag Team titles and Odinson answered an open challenge to defeat Drew Adler and win the All-Star Wrestling Network Heavyweight title.

Upcoming Cards

Southern Fried Championship Wrestling comes to Lawrenceville GA for the first time on 2/27. The main event sees Drew Adler defending the SFCW Heavyweight title against Odinson. Also on the card is Terry Lawler, The Beautiful Bald Besties, Kameron Kade and more!

A special card will be held on 2/28 at the WWA4 training school in Atlanta under the name of Pro Wrestling Live. This is separate from the weekly Thursday night cards at the school, but admission will still be free. The main event is Odinson vs AR Fox. Also scheduled to appear are Anthony Henry, Owen Knight, Kiera Hogan, Dark Mon, Fred Yehi, Ken Lee, Ashton Starr, Merica Strong and much more!

A new promotion called $10 Dollar Rasslin’ holds their debut event on 2/27 in Weogufka AL. Among the matches advertised are Insane Lane vs “Super Cop” Dick Justice vs “The White Trash Adult Film Star” Ronnie Geremy in a 3-way dance, Freight Train vs Kornbread, a Tables Ladders and Legos match plus a legends match with Bullet Bob Armstrong vs Jimmy Golden.

Looking Ahead

TNA star Abyss returns to Renegade Championship Wrestling in Chatsworth GA on 3/5, where he will face CJ Holloway in a steel cage match. RCW has used numerous TNA stars in the past, including Abyss, Eric Young and James Storm.

A new promotion called Quality Championship Wrestling will hold its first event on 3/12 in Cartersville GA. Scheduled to appear are The Faces of Death (Andy Anderson & Pain), Logan Creed, Austynn Madison vs Maranda Rights in a womens match and more.

I previously mentioned the passing of Jay Farley, a retired wrestler from the Chattanooga area. Jay achieved his biggest success in Ultimate Extreme Wrestling, competing in the main event on the promotion’s first-ever card and being their first Heavyweight champion. This week, UEW announced a one-day event entitled “Farley Con” in his memory to be held on 4/30 in East Ridge TN. There will be a comic & toy show during the day, followed by a wrestling card in the evening. Tickets will be just $5, which gets you into both the comic & toy show AND the wrestling card. I hope to have more information on this event as it draws closer.
