Welcome back to another Lucha Underground review. Tonight seems to be like it could be a great show with three matches already announced. A big 4-way is kicking off the show, then Killshot takes aim at Marty “The Moth” Martinez. Also, we will crown a new Gift Of The Gods Champion. So, let’s get into it.
We kick off the show with Cage in Dario’s office. He tells Dario that Chavo is hiding his Gift Of The Gods medallion from him and he’s going to get it back.
Dario & Cage head to the ring for the Gift Of The Gods ceremony. Dario tells the fans that tonight we will see a seven man match to crown a new champ. Texano, Joey Ryan, Sinestro Del La Muerte, Aerostar, The Mack, and Sexy Star all out their medallions in the championship. Chavo comes out last with Cage’s medallion, which turns things into a fight. Chavo sneakily got the medallion in the championship. So, now he’s in the match instead of Cage.
Decent opening match here. Nothing special, but we did see a few things in this match that could lead to more things in the future. For starters, Mascarita took the pin here, which means he hasn’t won a single match since being under Famous B’s wing. This could cause a problem between the two, but we’ll have to wait and see on that. Also, Kobra moon went after Daga in the beginning of the match, but in a “I want you” type of way. She looked like she wanted to lick him downstairs if you know what I mean, which played into the ending of the match. After Daga & Argenis basically were the only two that shined in this match, Kobra Moon took out Mascarita, then backed off, letting Daga pin Sagrada. She seems to like him, and she gave him the win. Interesting.
Marty Martinez snuck up behind Killshot backstage. Marty saluted Killshot and told him he hopes he’s ready for battle. He put his finger gun at him, which Killshot didn’t like. Killshot took Marty down to the ground and signaled shooting him.
Marty started things off very aggressively and was actually really impressive here. Killshot had a hard time getting in the drivers seat, but after Marty was taking too much time, Killshot got in charge. These two really brought it here. They tore each other apart in some great back and forth action. But, after after a epic showing of awesome offense, Killshot picked up the win.
After the match, Marty attached Killshot. He beat the hell out of him and curb stomped Killshot’s head in after taking his dog tags. Kill confirmed?
As I expected, this was just a match full of high spots and chaos. We get all seven competitors in the ring brawling, then the inside and five outside, and it continues to switch all throughout the match just like usual. It’s very easy to tell how these matches are going to go because it’s the same routine every multi-man match. I’ve honestly grown tired of watching matches like this, but oh well. Solid match with a couple few spots. In the end, Cage came in and destroyed everyone. And I mean DESTROYED. Cage looked so good here beating the hell out of everyone. Then, in a turn of events, Cage laid Chavo over Joey Ryan and helped him win. The new Gift Of The Gods champion is Chavo Guerrero. Cage tells him that next week, he gets Chavo one on one for the championship.
After the match, we saw Vampiro beating the hell out of a chained up Pentagon Jr. locked to a wooden board.
Overall, this was a good show. Not great, but not bad. A decent opener, Killshot vs. Marty was good, and as I said was the same as always with spots. Getting a bit old but still some fun spots. The ending was cool and next week we get Chavo vs. Cage. Until next week. Thanks for reading.
