DDT Pro Wrestling To Launch Streaming Service

DDT Pro Wrestling is one of my favorite companies in the world. For the longest time they’ve managed to balance serious wrestling with an assortment of abstract comedy. If you want to be entertained, awe-struck, taken aback by war main events (the list goes on), DDT may be for you. This isn’t a splurge article about how I got into DDT nor a business pitch. You’re here for the news!

‘DDT Universe’ ( is set to launch January 2017. It will include all promotions under the DDT umbrella including DNA, BASARA, Ganbare and Tokyo Joshi Pro. All Korakuen Hall and Sumo Hall shows will be streamed live, with more coming in the future. President Sanshiro Takagi even mentioned that they will be producing ‘unique’ original content, even spanning the reality TV market. All of this is so DDT, you just know it’ll be above and beyond the 900 yen per month they’ll be charging, which equates to just above $8.50 right now USD.

Not only that, but there will be at least some archives being rolled out at launch. I doubt it will be the entire tape library but I’d assume things will be uploaded, or even the compilations that have been released on DVD (let’s hope for YOSHIHIKO).

The only thing yet to be determined is if it will roll-out worldwide next year.

Are you excited for the launch of DDT Universe? Be sure to use all the resources we provide for Dramatic Dream Team’s spider web of projects, and be sure to comment or Tweet us your thoughts on what could stem out from the announcement.

Izzac will have more on this story on the next Puro in the Rough.

Founder of this weird world. Purveyor of generally ~POSITIVE~ pro wrestling takes. If you see a show preview, it's likely me. If you see odd fantasy booking, it's Dan, but possibly me too. Vancouver born and raised. Your sports fandom section is inserted here (BC Lions fan). Enjoy being terrible at video games. We have a side project for that! Don't do as many podcasts as I used to, but you can listen to the bi-weekly 'Your Taste is My Taste' adventure with Garrett. That just about wraps up my long ass bio. Wanted to see how much you'd actually read on here. Or am I just a bad writer? You'll never know, but what you do know is that you should keep it locked to Wrestling With Words.
